Workforce Redesign

27/06/2017 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm | The Cumberland Institute | Slough |

Everyone knows that the workforce needs to change shape and yet the debate is cast in terms of the roles, training and skill-sets that currently exist. Trying to work out what new roles should exist, what education, training and support they will require and then being assured that these roles can be deployed with existing structures at scale and work is a challenge that no other industry has faced.

Secondary Patient flows: Discharge and Bed Management

06/06/2017 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm | The Cumberland Institute | Slough |

The challenges in hospitals are not focused in one particular point, although the Emergency Department attracts a disproportionate amount of attention. This workshop will look at the integration challenges across the patient journey through secondary care and explore that tools and methods that are already providing a means of success.

Integrated services

16/05/2017 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm | The Cumberland Institute | Slough |

Most STPs plan to streamline patients within their care system by integrating services at two levels –sometimes three. First, there is a clear desire for better integration of acute care with one-stop shops and single-points of contact. Secondly, there is a need to integrated services across primary, community and mental health. Eventually, it is hoped, there will be a further stage of integration between health and social services.

Mental health challenges

25/04/2017 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm | Olympia | London |

Mental health services find themselves in every greater demand, while suffering from severe funding issues. This workshop will explore the challenges from a clinical perspective and show how better design of the services – and, eventually, the funding models – can be used to alleviate the immediate pressures and lead to affordable provision.

Making the STPs work

28/03/2017 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm | The Cumberland Institute | Slough |

The Sustainable Transformation Plans have identified a range of innovative ways of building on what has been tried to deliver integrated services at new levels of effectiveness. The big challenge is that the NHS will have to be able to deliver reproducibly and at scale using a range of new approaches. Workforces will have to look different, as will the way in which information systems support new pathways through the system. The experience of the NHS and its staff in these areas is limited and marred by poor experiences over the past 50 years. This workshop will present and share ways to succeed that learn from past failures, build on recent success and enable new elements of service to be trialled and introduced with high degrees of confidence.

Remodelling A&E

07/03/2017 | 9:00 am - 4:30 pm | The Cumberland Institute | Slough |

Delegates will be encouraged to share their recent successes and the challenges they face. Speed-dating sessions will allow problem owners to meet those with recent, relevant experience of finding systems solutions and to try some hands-on solutions. Delegates may expect to leave with a clear idea on best practice associated with A&E, and be in a position to commission or apply modelling to their own challenges.
